Milk River Expedition Papers, 1881.

The diary describes an 1881 expedition by companies of the 2d Cavalry and 18th Infantry from Fort Assiniboine to the Milk River to stop the retreat of Sitting Bull's band to Canada. Accompanied by 19 photographs of Sioux Indians and 25 photographs of views of Forts Assininboine and Maginnis and the officers and men stationed there.
